Meet the Team at Laing Family Dentistry

Connie - Dental Assistant

Connie has worked as a dental assistant with Laing Family Dentistry for 39 years! A graduate of Ottoville High School, Connie trained at Vantage Career Center from 1984-1985 and started working in the dental field as a junior in high school.

Connie lives in Kalida with her husband Nick. They are proud parents of two sons, two bonus daughters, and proud grandparents of twin grandsons! Connie’s favorite part of working in dentistry is that patients are like family to her. She loves helping patients to understand procedures that they are having done and making them feel comfortable. Outside of the office, Connie has a Sheepadoodle named Minnie and a cat named Daisy! She loves animals, Disney, and camping!

Braydon - Dental Assistant

Born and raised in Van Wert for most of his life, Braydon graduated from Angola High School and completed the dental assisting program through Maumee Valley Dental Assisting School. Braydon has been a dental assistant for 3 years. His favorite part of patient care is seeing patients’ reactions once the work has been done. Outside of dental assisting, Braydon enjoys following his favorite sports teams (such as The Ohio State Buckeyes, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Atlanta Braves), working out regularly at the YMCA, and is our in-house tech support at the office! Braydon is also a huge animal lover. He became interested in dental assisting after his own experience of having his front teeth knocked out in a basketball game and getting crowns of his own!

Dr. Kevin Laing - Dentist

Born in 1956 in Chicago, Dr. Kevin graduated from Van Wert High School in 1973, and went on to receive a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from Heidelberg College in 1976. Dr. Kevin graduated from Loyola Dental School in the Chicago area in 1980 and moved back to Van Wert where he went into practice with his father at 521 S Shannon St. After his father retired, Dr. Kevin created a new office in the old People’s Bank Branch at the corner of Shannon Street and Main Street where Laing Family Dentistry is located today.

Jan, RDH - Dental Hygienist

A lifelong resident of Delphos, Jan graduated from Delphos Jefferson High School in 1986 before receiving her dental hygiene degree from Lima Technical College in 1989. Jan has worked in dentistry since 1989. She has been with Laing Family Dentistry for the past 22 years. Jan loves building relationships with patients, which many of them she considers friends. Her passion is educating patients about the connection between oral health and overall systemic health.

Jan and her husband Bill are the proud parents of 3 sons, a new bonus daughter, and 2 granddogs (Lucy & Ruby). Jan’s secret talent is crafting! Every year she turns the office into a winter wonderland and makes beautiful bows for the office Christmas tree! Jan also enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, and spending time in her flower beds.

Christina, RDH - Dental Hygienist

Christina graduated from dental hygiene school at Rhodes State College in 2020 and has been working here at Laing Family Dentistry since 2021. Christina grew up outside of Celina and currently lives in Van Wert. Christina’s favorite part about being a dental hygienist is that she loves all the different people she gets to interact with daily and loves getting to know people’s stories outside of their dental history! Christina has 3 older brothers, 2 live here in Van Wert and 1 lives in Memphis. Outside of work she can be found spending time with her nieces and nephews or at her church working with the middle school and high school girls.

Britney, RDH - Business Manager

Britney has worked in the dental field for 12 years. After graduating from Spencerville High School (Class of '05), Britney completed dental hygiene school at Rhodes State College. After 11 years as a pediatric dental hygienist, Britney transitioned to patient services and then Business Manager here at Laing Family Dentistry. She is excited for this new adventure & we are excited to have her here! Britney loves meeting new people and learning about their families.

Outside of work, Britney and her husband (who works as a Nurse Practitioner here in Van Wert) have 3 kids, 3 goats, 6 chickens, a handful of barn cats, and an Australian Shepherd named Lola! When Britney and her husband are not running kids around to volleyball, baseball, and football, they enjoy watching sports and being involved with their church. It should be noted that Britney lives in a divided household when it comes to football... ask her if she is a Michigan or Ohio State fan at your next appointment!

Jen - Patient Coordinator

Jen is new to the dental field and has completed her first year with Laing Family Dentistry! A graduate of Delphos St. John’s, Jen and her family call Van Wert home. Jen brings strong customer service skills to the team as patient coordinator. When asked what her favorite part of her job is, Jen says, “I love teeth!”. Jen enjoys learning dental lingo and working alongside the team members at Laing Family Dentistry. She loves seeing the transformation in patients’ confidence alongside their smiles!

Outside of work, Jen loves spending time with her family. Her goals are to provide patient-centered and compassionate service, to keep things running smoothly, and to support patients in navigating insurance!

Marlene - Dental Assistant

Originally from Paulding County, Marlene brings 28 years of experience in dentistry to the team! She joined Laing Family Dentistry in 2024 after the passing of Dr. John Eversman, who she worked with for 23 years. Marlene graduated from Wayne Trace High School and has a Radiology License from Rhodes State College. Her favorite part of dental assisting is meeting patients and getting to know them and their families. Her goal is to make each patient’s dental experience comfortable and stress-free!

Marlene and her husband currently live in Payne, Ohio. Fun fact, Marlene and her husband are high school sweethearts and have been together since they were teenagers! During the 10 years her husband served in the Air Force, Marlene has moved 13 times and has lived in 5 different states! Her and her husband are the proud parents of 3 children and the proud grandparents of 10 grandchildren! Outside of the office, Marlene enjoys long walks, working out at the gym, and vacationing anywhere near a beach.

Sue, RDH, BS - Dental Hygienist

A Van Wert native, Sue has served Van Wert as a dental hygienist for 45 years! Sue completed her Associates Degree at Lima Technical College in 1979 as well as a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene from The Ohio State University in 2008. Sue joined the team at Laing Family Dentistry in 2024 after the passing of Dr. John Eversman. Sue loves interacting with patients and making the experience as comfortable as possible while doing a thorough job and teaching patients home care.

Outside of work, Sue has two sons. Clint and Cassie live in Colorado and Cole and Katie live in Van Wert. Sue is a proud grandma to a granddaughter, a bonus grandson, and another grandchild on the way in October 2024! Sue enjoys playing cards with her many cousins. She is also active at First United Methodist Church where she plays handbells and organizes events such as Operation Back to School and Angel Tree Mission for Christmas!

Dr. Rachel Laing - Chief Morale Officer & Part-Time Bookkeeper

Don’t be fooled - there may be two Dr. Laings on the block, but only one is a dentist! Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, the Drs. Laing met in college marching band, got married in 2020 in Van Wert, and Rachel now loves telling patients that she “lives in the country” (she lives in town). When she is not serving Van Wert City Schools as the elementary school psychologist, Rachel can be found behind the scenes helping with the accounting and bookkeeping for the office with the help of their rescue pup, Izzy, who occasionally naps under the desk on Fridays. Rachel loves the patient-oriented atmosphere of the dental office and loves getting to know patients & their families.
